Jun. 15th, 2003 02:22 pmHmmm..time for a post methinks...
Been so bleedin' busy this week... Collected the new car. Oh how happy it makes me! It is just *such* fun to drive - it's actually not hugely fast, but it is delightfully "nippy" and the steering is so precise and...and...and... Sorry. I seem to have turned into a boy. Normal service will be resumed shortly. I'll just finish leafing through this copy of FHM and I'll be with you.
Ahem.
In other news, work has been being a real pain, for reasons far too dull to go into, but I think I may have sorted out at least one of the issues that was causing grief. Which is nice.
I'm off to Amsterdam on Monday for a business trip-ette. Nothing terribly exciting - a futures briefing from a large blue company - but these sorts of events are usually worth while. There is often a free pen, for example. The one thing that has me faintly excited is that I shall be staying in the Hilton Amsterdam. "So what?" I hear you cry - "Hilton, shmilton - it's just a hotel, already!" My thoughts exactly - until a distant memory began to stir.....
"DROVE FROM PARIS TO THE AMSTERDAM HILTON,
TALKING IN OUR BEDS FOR A WEEK.
THE NEWSPEOPLE SAID, "SAY WHAT YOU'RE DOING IN BED?"
I SAID, "WE'RE ONLY TRYIN' TO GET US SOME PEACE."
CHRIST! YOU KNOW IT AIN'T EASY,
YOU KNOW HOW HARD IT CAN BE.
THE WAY THINGS ARE GOING
THEY'RE GONNA CRUCIFY ME."
Yes...the self-same Amsterdam Hilton where John and Yoko had their Bed-in for peace. And the room is still there - renamed the John and Yoko Suite and recently refurbished under Yoko's direction...
It's a little bit of history and that is a Good Thing.
