Returnng to a semblance of normality after the jaunt to the US - lots to absorb from the many and varied meetings over there. Occupied with getting to grips with my new role (IT Strategy leader - woohooo!!) - so far so good - the paper I wrote was submitted to the UK management board last Friday and was received with (I gather) loud applause. This is a Good Thing. There is even talk of it being used as a model for strategy papers from othe r parts of the business... Smug? Me ??? Nahhhh.... - well, maybe a little.... :-) The challenge now is to take it all to the next stage...turn a high level summary into something that means something to the people who do the work...

The rehearsals for Twelve Angry Men have begun, as noted previously... It is much more demanding than I expected.. It's a weird play in many ways - maybe the only play where none of the characters have names - they just have numbers (2nd Juror - 5th Juror etc) and one where everyone is on stage for the whole of the play... And it is very "fraught" - much emoting... I watched the movie just the once - but I don;t plan to play the 8th Juror like Henry Fonda did - he was very reasonable and controlled and nice... the script reads differently - my character is (I think) someone who is almost playing out an intellectual game....balancing on the fine line between being a real pain in the ass and a sympathetic character... It's going to be tricky....

Oh - and I haven't been spanked yet - despite being - shall we say - less than word perfect.....
