May. 18th, 2004 04:47 pmHmmmm.. The Children's Society have a sponsored walk-type-thing along the Pilgrim's Way between Rochester and Canterbury cathedrals at the end of June. You have to raise 650 Earth Pounds to participate and that buys you the company of strangers, a bed in a student house each night and lashings of gruel.
Hmmmm.... It's sort of attractive to do this in a participative way, but I have a natural fear of Being Organised and Joining In. Not sure. Not sure at all.
The Children's Soc is - I believe - a Christian Charity...now I have nothing against Christians either as individuals or indeed in groups - but I have a certain anxiety that a jaunt like this might particularly attract the enthusiastic, well-meaning, eager, earnest, bearded and talkative types. I don't want to walk through the Kent countryside being quizzed to the sound of tambourines and poorly played acoustic guitar about whether I have accepted Jesus into my life.
I really don't.
