Swan Lake and foooood
Jan. 9th, 2005 01:59 pmTo see Mathew Bourne's Swan Lake yesterday at Sadler's Wells. Words fail me - it was totally wonderful - sublime dancing, enormous humour and hugely moving. Go and see it.
After the show we (being me, Em, her parents and her brother) went to Bank for cocktails and then to Orso for dinner. Orso is one of my favourite restaurants in London - the food is always good (and sometimes very good), the service is always friendly and professional and the bill is always (well - usually... ok - sometimes) the right side of "Crikey!".
The meal last night was a joy - I started with braised octopus served with black olives, green beans and red onions, followed by Oxtail and mash. All rounded off with raspberries, espresso and grappa. Everyone else had a variety of delicious and tasty looking stuff - the calves liver proved popular (meltingly sweet) and the sardines breaded in parmesan as a starter deserved a mention too :-)
Lovely.
Off to Seattle tomorrow - 11 hour flight. Yuk. 8 hour time difference. Yerk. 3 days of meetings. Yarg. Microsoft. Yech.
