May. 2nd, 2004 07:47 pmFinished the read-through of Hamlet Vol. 2 by lunchtime. Hurrah. Then home to potter in the garden. The glorious Euphorbia which has been such a sight in the border died during the winter, save for one of two rather straggly looking stems. With regret I dug it out and planted in its place a Myrtle. Not sure how this will do - reports vary between "sunny spot against a wall" and "semi shaded". Its position tends towards the latter, so I shall cross my fingers and look forward to masses of white flowers in the early summer, followed by purple berries....or not.
I cooked skate for dinner - lightly poached then fried in butter with capers - it was really rather good.
