Aug. 24th, 2005 07:21 pmToday I did the Ikea thing. It has to be done after decorating a room.
I bought two bookcases - one tall, one not so tall, a floor lamp, and some chopping boards. The bookcases are being delivered tomorrow - £40!!!! If I had had the good sense to have checked out the delivery pricing beforehand, I would have bought a whole bunch of other stuff too - there was a dining room table and chairs that passed muster. Tsk.
Anyway.
Also had a bash (quite literally) at endeavouring to get the lounge door to shut. It took several hours of chiselling, planing and sanding and the bloody thing still doesn't close properly (although it is a lot better). I gave up when I rather thoughtlessly ran my thumb along the neatly sanded door edge and drove a large splinter deep into my fragrant flesh. I picked most of it out - once the blood had stopped spurting in crimson arcs across the room - but I suspect there may even now be shards that are working their way towards my heart.
The bookcases are being delivered tomorrow. I'm assuming they will arrive in a Rolls Royce.
